Our 3D Water Soluble Support helps broaden the potential of 3D printing. Depending on the specific 3D printing technology and the complexity of the 3D model, intricate 3D prints may require support structures.

SKILCRAFT 3D Water Soluble Support allows you to print your piece with rinse-away supports. This support material cuts down on time-consuming post-print clean-up and eliminates delicate work with a razor blade. Used only as a support material with Modified PLA, PET, PETG, ABS and Nylon.

Success Tips

Before starting your print, consider:

  1. Has your material been exposed to moisture? If it is new and in the vacuum-sealed bag with desiccate, you should be fine .But if there is a risk of exposure, it is best to remove as much moisture as possible for optimum printing. Drying the filament in a heated oven environment from 100-120 degrees F should do the trick. Our spool is made of recycled polycarbonate, which withstands much higher temperatures than typical spools mad of HIPS.
  2. If your application requires maximum strength, we recommend post-annealing after the print is complete. Annealing is a reheating process at a lower temperature that reduces stress in the material and creates a stronger bond. This 1) yields better mechanical and thermal properties and 2) reduces the possibility of cracking due to contraction and expansion over time. Typically, you perform the annealing in an oven at a temperature range of 176-266° F (80-130° C)

Other considerations:

  • Recommended Print Speed: we find results are best at a speed of 40 ñ 100 mm/s
  • For prints with curvatures, we recommend turning on rafts and supports in your settings
  • For more stability and a higher quality print, we suggest adjusting three settings:
    • (1) reduce the speed of the extruder to 30-60mm/second;
    • (2) Increase infill to 30%;
    • (3) Reduce layer height to 0.10mm
